Be Part of The Bernard Hinault Archive!
As with other web sites, this one can grow and improve
with the help of genuine Hinault fans. I produced this site with
the aid of a handful of books, magazines and fond memories of
watching The Badger on British Channel 4's daily Tour de France
coverage in 1985/ 86. Presented then, as it is today by the evergreen
and utterly enthusiastic Phil Liggett, this show was the introduction to
Bernard Hinault that the U.K. had been waiting for.
I'd like to thank the renowned cycle sport photographers Phil
O'Connor and
Graham
Watson for the use of their wonderful photographs in this
site. These images really
capture the action and panache of cycle racing and you'll find many of them
in this site.. Each
one is linked to the respective photographers' own site - just click on it to
see more of their fabulous
work. I would also like to thank ace Japanese photographer Ken
M. Saito, who was kind enough
to let me use his fabulous photos
of Hinault and Lemond from the 1985/86 Coors Classic Race
in the USA. I don't know why I've never come across his work before but his
website is a fantastic find
for any La Vie Claire fan!
PLEASE NOTE:
If you own the copyright to any of the shots on this site and would like them
removed
or linked to your own site, then please let me
know and I will make the necessary adjustments.
So, how can you help to make this a better site?
Well, of course, I need more images of Hinault to expand the galleries. This
accompanied
with details of where, when and by whom the shots were taken would be a great
help. As high a
quality of file as you can afford to send - well, we get charged a hefty 1 pence
per minute in the UK!
I would also like to hear from anyone who has met the man himself or could give
me any interesting
anecdotes about him or people/ products/ companies associated with him. For
instance does anyone know
how Hinault became involved with La Vie Claire, Look or TVT? Is there an official
fan club? What does
he do outside of his current involvement with the annual Tour de France? Have
you any suggestions to improve this site?
In the future I would like to create a Question and Answer
page for The Bernard Hinault Archive, so any queries
that you may have can be emailed to me at the following address for inclusion
in this at a later date.
Thanks in advance for your support.
